Coxinha

Coxinha is a breaded and fried dough-based snack filled with chicken, shaped to loosely resemble a chicken drumstick. They can be found anywhere, from gas stations to bakeries and bars to fancy restaurants – and they are really, really good!

Petrópolis Toast (Torrada Petrópolis)

Torrada Petrópolis is a soft bread, slightly sweet and delicate, with a delicious crust. It's greased with butter, toasted on a pan and served with butter and jam. It's simply divine!

Pastel

The pastel is a thin, crispy crust delicacy shaped rectangle holding various fillings inside before being deep-fried in vegetable oil. The pastels are very popular in Brazil commonly found in farmer's market where they are freshly-made at street stalls.

Guaraná 

Guarana is a plant named for the Guarani tribe in the Amazon, who used the seeds to brew a drink. Today, guarana seeds are still used as medicine. 

Guarana is used for weight loss, to enhance athletic performance, as a stimulant, and to reduce mental and physical fatigue. 

We are going to taste the soft drink flavored with Guarana to give us some energy for our walking.

Cheese Bread - (Pão de Queijo)

Pão de queijo means cheese bread. It’s a delightful small, baked cheese roll, very popular snack in Brazil. It’s made with manioc flour, milk, eggs, olive oil, and cheese. 

Go to Brazil and don’t try Pão de Queijo, it’s like never been in Brazil. Don’t miss out on it!

Açai 

The Açai berry looks like a grape and has a delicious tropical, naturally sweet taste. It’s a versatile flavor, a perfect complement to many different ingredients. Açai fruit grows on the açai palm tree, which is native to Brazilian rainforests. 

The new trend at the Brazilian tables is serving Açai in a bowl blended with other ingredients like bananas, Guaraná syrup topping with your favorite fruits, granola, or nuts and serve. 

Brigadeiro

Brazil’s favorite treat, brigadeiros are incredibly addicting.

These tasty sweets are soft and fudge-like on the inside with crunchy chocolate sprinkles on the outside. More than a just a simple sweet candy, the brigadeiro has become a way for Brazilians to show affection, specially to kids, but most adults can’t resist to the charm of this delicious treat. It will win your heart in just one bite!

Fruit Juices

Rio has long been famous for its fruit juice bars. Any time of day or night you'll find residents at bars to get their daily dose of natural vitamins. A couple of tropical fruits native to Brazil, cashew and acerola, pack more vitamin C than any other fruit. Then there's pineapple, passion fruit, mango, cupuaçu, papaya, graviola, guavas, and much more...

Cachaça

Cachaça is to Brazil as tequila is to Mexico. It's Brazil’s most famous cocktail!

Cachaça is a distilled spirit made from fermented sugarcane juice. It's the country’s national spirit and the alcohol behind caipirinhas. 

Chopp & Beer

While caipirinha may well be the national drink, what Brazilians truly love is an extra cold beer or chopp (draft beer) for Brazil’s hot and humid days. It is widely available in bars, in restaurants, and in brew-pubs specialized in chopps, snack foods, conversation and music.

 Do I pass by or visit all the listed sights in the suggested itinerary?

 The tour should NOT cover the full itinerary only if there are unexpected issues.

 The guide must pass by the bars, restaurants, attractions and establishments and get you to taste samples, portions and shots of the proposed selection of tastings and beverages. The guide also explains a little bit of the history, recipe or any curiosity behind the tastings, and walk to the next in the list.

 In case tourists spend more time at a sight or place, it should impact on the tour coverage reducing the number of seen sights. 

 What happens if we arrive late to the tour?

 We recommend arriving at the starting location at least 10 minutes before the tour effectively starts. The e-mail confirmation voucher that you receive the day before the tour should state the tour guide’s name and phone number for any unexpected issue. Any late arrivals, call us or the guide to let us know.

 Do the tours ever get cancelled for weather?

 It's unlikely it rains so much that we are forced to cancel the tour. Most of Rio de Janeiro's rain is in the evenings during summertime, so you will find that most tours are very sunny.

 In case of bad whether, just dress appropriately for the conditions and go for it.

 If the weather is bad, your guide will include as many “bad weather” covered stops as possible.

 If for some unexpected reason we are forced to cancel the tour, all reserved guests will be contacted via email and text to be advised properly.

 What happens if I fail to show up? Will I get a refund?

No, we’re afraid not. If there are extenuating circumstances why you were unable to come, please drop us a line at info@gregtur.com and we will try to find a space for you on a later date, but we cannot guarantee this.

 Can I book the tour and pay on spot to the guide?

 Yes, you can book the tour online and pay the total amount directly to the guide on spot in cash. 

 Can I show up at the designated time and meeting point without booking the tour on the website and join it?

 Yes, you can try to join the tour going to the designated time and meeting point without upfront booking, but we cannot guarantee a spot for you. In case there is a spot for joining it, just pay the amount directly to the guide in cash.

 I bought the tour, but now can’t make that date, can I use it on another day?

 Yes, the booking is valid for 30 days from the date on it has been scheduled, but you should let us know in advance about the change of the date. 

 Are there any other costs regarding entrance fees or sites during the tour?

 No, there are NO fees to pay for entering visiting places of interest during the tour. 

 What does the tour guide talk about?

 All tour guides have complete knowledge about the city sights, culture, history, and social-economic aspects of Rio de Janeiro and Brazil. The guide for this tour is also a gastronomy expert and specialized in Brazilian food culture.

 In this group tour, do all tourists speak the same language?

 We may have to mix a group of tourists who speak two different languages. It may be a group of English and Spanish speakers, or it may be English and Portuguese and so forth. 

 The guide maybe has to speak with the tourists switching between the two different languages.

 Do children have any discount?

 Children under 5 accompanied by a paying adult are free of charge on this tour.

 Can I anytime give up on continuing in the tour itinerary with the rest of the group and guide?

 Yes, you can leave the tour anytime you wish. Sometimes, tourists have to leave before the tour finishes or they like so much an attraction that decide to spend more time at a sight or place. In this case, just let the guide knows that you are quitting the tour for some reason. 

 There is no refunds for such cases.

 What’s the minimum and maximum number of people can I hire a city tour for?

 The tour can be hired for 1 person up to 14 people.

 It's also possible to tour in Rio de Janeiro with groups higher than 14 people, but it’s more worth hiring a private tour in this case as it can be cheaper.
