Please, read these frequently asked questions before booking.
When does the hired number of hours start to be counted?
Even though you are picked up by our vehicle far from the boat boarding location, the tour duration starts to be counted at the time you get on the boat.
Do I pass by or visit all the listed sights in the suggested itinerary?
We don't actually sell a set tour program for a certain number of hours, but instead we sell the number of hours the “TOUR GUIDE & BOAT” are going to be at your availability to do a certain activity with you. The offered 8-hour guide & boat availability is enough to cover the whole suggested tour itinerary.
In case tourists want to have more stops for any reason or spend more time at a sight, it should impact on the tour coverage reducing the number of seen sights or establishments.
The tour coverage depends on the tour rhythm as the guide goes at your pace.
Other adversities may also slow down the tour progress such as bad weather.
On the price form, what’s the field “GUIDE & VEHICLE AVAILABILITY” for?
This field is to specify the number of hours the licensed “TOUR GUIDE & BOAT” will be at your availability.
What if I am in a city far away from Santos and want to take this tour?
Just fill out the “PICK-UP” and “FINAL DROP-OFF” location fields to have the price for the tour guide to pick you up wherever you are, take you on the tour, and return you back to your place afterwards. The booking system may automatically reject too long-distance pick-ups & drop-offs, as the tour may NOT be worth taking because of the trip time to the city of the tour. In this case, you can either select closer locations or get in touch with us for options.
Does the tour guide always pick the customers up at their places?
Yes, always. Sometimes, other than the tour guide, there is also a driver depending on the number of people.
Can I personalize the tour according to what I want to see?
Yes, private tours are totally personalizable according to your interests and likes. Talk directly to the tour guide about your wishes or write them in the “BOOKING OBSERVATION BOX” further during the booking process.
Do other unknown tourists join the tour with me? Or is this tour in group or private?
The tour is totally private and exclusive for you and your group. No other person out of your group must join your tour, unless it's invited by you.
What does the tour guide talk about?
All tour guides have complete knowledge about the city sights, culture, history, and social-economic aspects of Santos, Guarujá and Brazil.
What if I arrive at the port, does the tour guide wait for me at the arrivals area of the terminal?
Once you have arrived at the port, there will be a member of our staff / guide waiting for you at the arrivals area holding a clear sign with your name on it, they will then escort you to your waiting private vehicle. Our staff / guide will be waiting for you even if your ship is delayed, without extra charges.
What happens when there is bad weather on the day of the boat tour?
In case the weather does not turn out well on the day of your booking (i.e. strong winds and/or rain), first we will try to find an alternative date for the tour. If this is not possible, the booking will be cancelled and no costs will be charged (any deposit will be fully returned). The skipper will have the last word about whether or not to proceed with the boat trip.
Bear in mind that the forecasts can change until last minute. In case of unstable weather, it will only be decided last minute whether to cancel or to go ahead with the tour.
Most of Santos rain is in the evenings during summertime, so you will find that most tours are very sunny.
If for some unexpected reason we are forced to cancel the tour, all reserved guests will be contacted via email and text to be advised properly.
How is the weather like in that part of Brazil?
Southeastern Brazil, the climate is tropical, with a relatively cool season from May to October, and a hot and muggy season from December to March, with November and April as intermediate months. The daily average temperature ranges from 21.5 °C (70.5 °F) in July to 27 °C (81 °F) in January and February.
Although the average temperatures are not very high, sometimes in summer very hot days can occur, with highs around 35/37 °C (95/99 °F), from October to April. However, summery days can occur even in winter, with highs around 30/32 °C (86/90 °F) even in June, July and August.
On the other hand, during the cool season, from May to October, cold air masses of Antarctic origin can bring cool temperatures, or even a little cold at night, in fact lows can drop to around 10/12 °C (50/54 °F) and highs can stay around 18/20 °C (64/68 °F).
It rains almost everyday in abundance during summertime at the end of the afternoon and beginning of the evening, around 5PM. It’s a tropical rain that lasts about 1 hour, but pours down very heavily. It’s not a good idea to be out during a tropical storm.
Winter is quite dry, but at times some disturbances can affect this area, bringing some days of bad weather, and also cool temperatures. This happens mostly in mid-winter (in the months of June, July and August), but it can also occur in the months of May, September and October.
The seasons in the Southern Hemisphere are the opposite of those in the Northern Hemisphere. This means that in Brazil the winter begins in June.
What’s the minimum and maximum number of people can I hire a city tour for?
The tour can be hired for 1 person up to 13 people. We will assign a suitable vehicle / boat according to your group.
If you have groups with more than 13 people, the ideal is to make 2 bookings splitting the group and using two vehicles / boats plus two tour guides.
