Please, read these frequently asked questions before booking.
When does the hired number of hours start to be counted?
The Count starts from the pickup moment, no matter where you are.
Do I pass by or visit all the listed sights in the suggested itinerary?
The tour can be flexible and customers can choose what to do and where to go. Customers can even choose between the 2 most popular sailing itineraries in Angra, the "Paradisiacal Islands" or the postcard of Angra, the Ilha Grande. The guide should explain the caracteristics of each one so that you can make up your mind.
The boat is going to be available for 7 hours for sailing in Angra wherever that customers wish to go.
What if I am in a city far away from Rio de Janeiro and want to take this tour?
Just fill out the “PICK-UP” and “FINAL DROP-OFF” location fields to have the price for the tour guide to pick you up wherever you are, take you on the tour, and return you back to your place afterwards. The booking system may automatically reject too long-distance pick-ups & drop-offs, as the tour may NOT be worth taking because of the trip time to the city of the tour. In this case, you can either select closer locations or get in touch with us for options.
How many hours is the guide going to be at the customer’s availability?
The guide is going to be at customer’s availability for 12 hours in a row doing the tour activities.
Does the tour guide always pick the customers up at their places and escort them all the time?
Yes, always. Sometimes, other than the tour guide, there is also a driver depending on the number of people.
Do other unknown tourists join the tour with me? Or is this tour in group or private?
Yes, private tours are totally personalizable according to your interests and likes. Talk directly to the tour guide about your wishes or write them down in the “BOOKING OBSERVATION BOX” further during the booking process.
What happens when there is bad weather on the day of the boat tour?
In case the weather does not turn out well on the day of your booking (i.e. strong winds and/or rain), first we will try to find an alternative date for the tour. If this is not possible, the booking will be cancelled and no costs will be charged (any deposit will be fully returned). The skipper will have the last word about whether or not to proceed with the boat trip.
Bear in mind that the forecasts can change until last minute. In case of unstable weather, it will only be decided last minute whether to cancel or to go ahead with the tour.
Most of Angra Dos Reis rain is in the evenings during summertime, so you will find that most tours are very sunny.
If for some unexpected reason we are forced to cancel the tour, all reserved guests will be contacted via email and text to be advised properly.
Does the guide pay their own expenses during the tour?
The guide’s basic expenses such as meals, drinks, parking and tickets for boat tours in Angra are paid by themselves on spot. Museums, cultural and some entertaining activities are free of charge for tour guides.
The guide may decline to participate in high-priced activities that fall out of the scope of a regular tour such as going to fancy restaurants, dance clubs, nightclubs or anything out of a standard tour. In these cases, if customer wishes to have the guide as a permanent companion, the guide’s expenses should be covered by the customer. Otherwise, the guide must wait for the customer just nearby to continue on the tour afterwards.
What does the tour guide talk about?
All tour guides have complete knowledge about the city sights, culture, history, and social-economic aspects of the visited cities and Brazil. If you want a deeper understanding of a specific topic, please write down your interests in the “BOOKING OBSERVATION BOX” further during the booking process.
How is the weather like in that part of Brazil?
Southeastern Brazil, the climate is tropical, with a relatively cool season from May to October, and a hot and muggy season from December to March, with November and April as intermediate months. The daily average temperature ranges from 21.5 °C (70.5 °F) in July to 27 °C (81 °F) in January and February.
Although the average temperatures are not very high, sometimes in summer very hot days can occur, with highs around 35/37 °C (95/99 °F), from October to April. However, summery days can occur even in winter, with highs around 30/32 °C (86/90 °F) even in June, July and August.
On the other hand, during the cool season, from May to October, cold air masses of Antarctic origin can bring cool temperatures, or even a little cold at night, in fact lows can drop to around 10/12 °C (50/54 °F) and highs can stay around 18/20 °C (64/68 °F).
It rains almost everyday in abundance during summertime at the end of the afternoon and beginning of the evening, around 5PM. It’s a tropical rain that lasts about 1 hour, but pours down very heavily. It’s not a good idea to be out during a tropical storm.
Winter is quite dry, but at times some disturbances can affect this area, bringing some days of bad weather, and also cool temperatures. This happens mostly in mid-winter (in the months of June, July and August), but it can also occur in the months of May, September and October.
The seasons in the Southern Hemisphere are the opposite of those in the Northern Hemisphere. This means that in Brazil the winter begins in June.
What if I arrive at the airport or port? Does the tour guide wait for me at the arrivals area of the terminal?
Once you have arrived at the airport or seaport, there will be a member of our staff / guide waiting for you at the arrivals area holding a clear sign with your name on it, they will then escort you to your waiting private vehicle.
When does the "tour count" of hours start when I arrive at the airport or port?
The "tour count" of hours starts to run from the time the tour guide meets the tourist.
Our staff / guide will be waiting for you even if your flight / ship is delayed, without extra charges.
What’s the minimum and maximum number of people can I hire a city tour for?
The tour can be hired for 1 person up to 17 people. We will assign a suitable vehicle according to your group.
If you have groups with more than 17 people, the ideal is to make 2 bookings splitting the group and using two vehicles plus two tour guides.
