Pátio do Colégio  

Historic São Paulo founding site and museum of the city. With the intention to teach and catechize the natives, the Jesuits built the first school and began what 4 centuries later would become the largest city in the Southern hemisphere. 

Manor Of The Marchioness of Santos

Church Of The Third Order Of Carmo

The "Igreja do Carmo" played a big role on the formation of São Paulo in the early times. It's also home to a representative collection of colonial art, including the paintings on the ceilings of the main chapel by the master Frei Jesuíno of Mount Carmel.

Boa Vista St.

Tea Viaduct

One of the postcards of São Paulo, the tea viaduct was the first in the city of São Paulo. It bears this name because of the extensive tea plantation nearby.

 São Paulo was the city where the then Royal Prince Dom Pedro I proclaimed the Brazil’s independence from Portugal.

 São Paulo hosted the first football game in Brazil’s soil in 1895. The two teams were formed by English people who lived in Sao Paulo and worked in a railway.

 Do I pass by or visit all the listed sights in the itinerary?

 Yes, this tour has a defined itinerary unlike other tours offered here on the site. The tour guide should take you to all sights listed in the itinerary giving thorough explanations about the history of the city.

 The tour is designed to be dynamic, and cover as many historical sights as possible in an attempt to get you to understand the history of São Paulo since its foundation. So there is a panoramic sightseeing among sights with a few strategic stops combining wtih short walks. Some of the tourist attractions, the guide must pass by it and give a brief explanation of its history or tell a curiosity behind it, and drive to the next in the list.

 In case tourists want to have more stops for any reason or spend more time at a sight, it should impact on the tour coverage reducing the number of seen sights.

 On the last Fridays of the months is celebrated the "Friday without car" where the city administration closes down the streets of the historical downtown. So if your tour falls on a "Friday without car" day, the suggested itinerary should  be changed dramatically in the downtown. Either a bigger part of the itinerary is done on foot or part of the downtown should be skipped.
